For those Over The Rainbow viewers...
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Bill Kenwright who are behind the revival of 'Wizard of Oz' the musical have revealed that Welsh wonder Sophie Evans will be Danielle Hope's understudy as the part of Dorothy! Sophie was exceptional and possesses great talent so I am sure that she will have no problem when she will play the iconic role of Dorothy every Tuesday evening and during the weeks of 2 May, 5 and 12 September while Danielle is on holiday.
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Bill Kenwright met Sophie at the Wales Millennium Centre for a press conference and announced the news.
Lloyd Webber commented: “I am thrilled that Sophie will be joining Danielle and the cast to play her dream role of Dorothy. She is a huge talent and I am very excited to see what she will bring to the role.”
Sophie is obviously equally ecstatic about this opportunity: "I am so excited about next year and I am so honoured that Andrew still wants me to be Dorothy. Its a happy ending and a great beginning after all.”
In addition to giving Sophie her West End break in the 'Wizard of Oz' Sophie has received guidance from Lloyd Webber who has assisted her in preparations and ongoing training as well as generously funding her one year musical theatre course at the Arts Educational School.
I think a massive congratulations is in order for Sophie who persistently showcased her extraordinary talent on OTR and in my eyes was a very deserving finalist. Best of luck Sophie!
While we're on the topic of Dorothys, Lauren Samuels who took 3rd place on the show starts a 6 month run as 'Sandy' in 'Grease' on 26th July, her last show will be on 22nd January 2011. Steph Fearon is currently in Smokey Joe's Cafe which ends on 22nd August 2010.

Liverpool Unites In Dance was a great success last Saturday, with thousands of pounds being raised for the charity. As you know Stephanie was involved, she kicked off the evening with performances including Pixie Lott's 'Mama Do' before taking to the judges panel alongside choreographer Miguel Doforo of MD Productions, radio broadcaster Maureen Walsh and the marketing and events manager for Liverpool Unites: Katie Mercer. They crowned 'Cody Urban Dance' the winners with their performance of ‘Geek Chic’.
Congratulations also goes out to second place winners Expressions and third place winners The Works Academy. Katie Mercer commented that the standard of talent was so high and every group brought something different to the show, but here is what Stephanie said when I asked her how the evening went...
"Amazing ! I loved the Liverpool Unites For Dance and I thought the winners were fantastic!"
She also added... "Cant wait till the 6th of September , when Hollyoaks airs :)"
Exciting times! Make sure you tune into Channel 4 at 6:30pm on 6th September for Stephanie's very first Hollyoaks episode
